Guttenberg

I passed through an underwater tunnel (Lincoln Tunnel NJ Entrance) that is backed up during the rush hours to New Jersey. After that I could see central Manhattan and the Hudson River from friend's condominium that I stayed on the day.

At that time I was often drinking canned Starbucks Coffee that I've never seen in Japan. But then conned coffee is not here to stay in Europe and the United States because there's no vending machine.

Chocolates of Japanese Valentine's Day

I was fascinated by printed chocolates of planets.

Valentine's day in Japan, Women only give men some chocolates. Those chocolates imply Sincere love, obligation, courtesy, gratitude and so on. So this event increases sales of chocolates of the year. This is gimmick of chocolate business in Japan. By the way, I don't know why woman declared her love to man on this day in Japan.

I like watching designs of chocolates. There are many kinds of chocolates for men, women and children. We just enjoyed watching the chocolates.

I love chocolates but I can't get any chocolates on this day. Yes this day is indifferent for me. So I buy them for myself or I ask my aunt to buy them. LOL

Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Lighting

Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree

I saw for the first time the Rockefeller center christmas tree in 2007. This year a number of blue lights were used because it is expression of ecology movement. So it looked dark for New Yorker that see the Rockefeller center christmas tree every years. And it seems the chosen tree of this year was small.

Skating rink is located next to the tree and around rink lined with various National Flags.

Anyway we have to wade through a crowd of people in this area in the Christmas season. We have trouble taking photos of  front of Rockefeller Building from this point in heavy crowd.

Irmas PASTILLER

My friend who traveled to Denmark on the job gave me this PASTILLER (troche) of Irma. I like the case of design, especially use of size of logo is great. There is supposed to be other colors. I have seen the blue one. I want it, too. It doesn't seem like designs of supermarket. That would be unthinkable in Japan.

Christmas in Dyker Heights

When I'm in NY, My friend took me to Dyker Heights in Brooklyn. Among the whole streets from 11th Ave to 13th Ave are illuminated actively with a huge amount of colorful Christmas lights and big decorations in holiday season.

Some of them put in a Christmas decoration in a room, too. Though one of the famous place for colorful Christmas lights, When I went, there are not too busy, so you can plod around them. I would recommend this place.

MERE POULARD

Married couple of sis gave me the cookie of the MERE POULARD. They went to Britain and France for them honeymoon. I felt like historical from red of the package. It seems that the old hotel and restaurant with an emphasis on the red. It is said the hotel and restaurant was originally pilgrim hostel. The hostel opened in 1888. I have not been to Europa yet so want to go to Mont-Saint-Michel someday.

The Close of Winter

February 3rd is Setsubun in Japan. In Japan, the traditional end of winter falls on February 3rd, and is known as Setsubun. It is before the beginning of spring according to the lunisolar calendar. On the evening of this day, people open the doors of their houses and drive the devils that means bad luck out of their homes and gardens by throwing  handfuls of beans and shouting, "devils out!! Good luck in!!"
Therefore, We put on makeup of devils and took pictures that show doing the Setsubun. Yes, Setsubun should be enjoyable and not a task.
And after Setsubun ends, winter is closed...

Clouds After a Storm

This sky is after a storm. Heavy Clous obscured the sky and the glow of sunset turns all clouds red. Those are very weird.

In the Toilet

I noticed that there's nearly running out of toilet paper when I entered toilet of shop. I confronted a severe shortage of used amount of toilet paper that needs for me. I had to allocate sufficient paper to problem resolution and depend on intuition alone… After 15 minutes in the toilet, I overcame the difficulty brilliantly. Whoof!!

Negishi forest Park

Negishi forest Park that has an area of 193,102 square meters is representative of one of parks in Yokohama. This park is vast.

There were racecourse before in this park. it remains building even today.

I've never been there during cherry blossom season though, there is one of the cherry blossom viewing spots in Kanagawa prefecture.

In the past, this lawned area was golf field for the U.S. forces private use. lawns has traces of the past.

I don't know why colors of ground and fallen leaves are different only in this area. It was like a autumn colors.

Meigetsuin

Do you know about hydrangea?! Japanese hydrangeas are in bloom in rainy season. In Japan, Beginning in June is rainy season. And the hydrangea is really a calyx in the botanical sense of the term. So it's not flower.

This is Kompeito（Japanese confetti）seems like hydrangea. Those are heavenly colors. You can buy this Kompeito at Toshimaya near the Kamakura station for a limited time from Japanese rainy season. 

Meigetsuin in Kamakura is one of the famous spots for viewing hydrangea in rainy season. Of course I went to take pictures of the hydrangea there.

And it features a beautiful Japanese garden as well.

Yokohama City

This time, I moved around Yokohama station. There are grove of various building as far as I can see.

We can see old buildings and modern buildings that was designed in different shapes.

Even around Yokohama station has some parks with plenty of space and greenery.

I found the rail track for freight train exclusive use. So the train mostly doesn't come. In a slow pace, I could take photos here.

At night Minatomirai is the best beautiful lights of all the Yokohama city. Especially I love the night view from Osanbashi Yokohama International Passenger Terminal. I'll post an  another blog about it someday.

This is defocused pictures that I stopped down the aperture value of the lens. Then I can see that there are a lot of variously-colored luminous source.

Yokohama city is port, so lights of night view reflected off water beautifully.
